With the activity check closed, boards will be cleaned up and hopefully we can get some activity going here again! Some tension between the angelics and possessed is still brewing, and if you'd like to be a part of that, be sure to check out the plotting board where you can find the thread on that. Let's try to get some more activity going everyone! Also, the items for characters idea is still being worked on by staff. - Tigress
Heavy hearts scattered the forest on the day of the King's death. He hadn't died of a powerful challenger, nor of a fierce disease, but of old age. Nevertheless, the herd was shaken by the loss of their leader. For most members, aside from a few elders, he'd been the only King they'd ever known. With him gone, there was a sense of uncertainty in the air. Nobody knew quite what to do or how to react. The elderly Queen could've ruled on her own for a bit if she weren't so elderly. The herd was a target with no leader to direct them and it would only be a matter of time before the other herd would find out the fate of the Possessed's leader and would come for them.
Out if the forest and into the clearing came a large black mare and her betrothed, ready to assume their role as King and Queen. The herd had known they were destined to be the next in line for power, but nobody knew if they would ever choose to take action. Lilth pounded her hooves, challenging anyone to challenge her or her mate. "Brothers and sisters, we are now claiming these lands as our own. Just as our proud leader before us, I ask, does anyone dare to challenge us? Speak now or forever hold your peace" The mare's loud but feminine voice carried through the herd and not one member resisted. Lilith and her mare were destined for their position and everyone knew it. "Now, friends, we begin a new area in our proud existence. It s right to be proud of our history but now we have the power to add to it. Let this new chapter begin"
He was not a member of the herd; he never had been. It just so happened that Awry was lurking on the island when the old king passed. Few had noticed his sudden presence among them, preoccupied with the claiming of the position. They all seemed saddened at the passing of their old, sickly king. He snorted in disgust. They should have been glad at his passing; a sick leader cannot lead.
Just then, a mare and stallion stepped forward, the mare the leader in this pairing. He snorted again. A mare! A mare, leading the possessed! This was ridiculous. Mares were not made for leading. That was a stallion's role. His role, if all went well. It would. It always did.
"Brothers and sisters, we are now claiming these lands as our own. Just as our proud leader before us, I ask, does anyone dare to challenge us? Speak now or forever hold your peace"
Silence reigned at the end of her speech, all these ridiculous equines who called themselves Possessed too afraid to stand up to a mare. He chuckled, a low rumble in his throat that was clear to hear over the entire clearing as he stepped out of the crowd, shouldering his way past the others with little care for them. They were not important. As he stepped out into the sunlight, he knew he looked glorious, sleek bay coat with its webbing of dark dapples rippling over muscles as he moved, three white stockings and long blaze a blinding white.
"I would challenge that claim," he voiced, eyeing this mare. She was taller than him, though not by much, and had a much heavier frame. Slow moving then? Her coat was midnight black - she had the colour of a possessed, at least, though it was a little boring to Awry. His coat was splendid, a million different colours that shifted whenever he moved.
"What will it be, mare?" he asked, deliberately antagonizing. "Will you withdraw your claim?"
Before she could carry on, Lilith was interrupted by a bay stallion. She'd smelt him in the air earlier but why would he challenge the powerul pairing that were destined to take on the role as leaders. She snorted loudly in humor, shaking her long midnight-toned mane. Her bluish-black coat glistened in the light of the clearing as she looked down upon the stallion. "Wandering bachelors. Always so ambitious. I'd admire it if it weren't so stupid" replied the towering black mare, almost with a roll of her deep chocolate eyes. "If you wish to challenge me, how could I refuse? I'm always up for a little dueling.Good to keep in shape, you know," she replied with a confident prance, powerful hooves crashing on the ground below her. Her long forelock swayed back and forth in a ryhtmic motion as she elegantly trotted closer to the smaller stallion, sizing him up. Flicking her long dark tail in boredom, she observed his build. Smaller, without a doubt, and probably more agile. But muscle? She definitely had that over him. Her hooves could easily do a lot of damage to his smaller frame. "I'm not normally one for fairness, but I will warn you that I don't take prisoners, dear," she added in a bored tone. Was she overconfident? Probably. But Lilith never lost a fight. Never.
The mare pranced elegantly in a cirlce, returning the cocky stallion's claim. "So, what will it be, wanderer? Will you withdraw your challenge?" Her voice dripped with sarcasm as she mocked him in return. The powerful mare wasn't one to be made a fool of, not verbally or physically. She'd been challenged by many a stallion in her day, as they always seem to think they are the better gender and cannot be beaten by a weak little mare. But Lilith was neither weak nor little and that was very evident after there was any physical contact. She would not submit to any stallion, not even her mate. Is she a feminist? Not intentionally. Lilith is merely proud and possesses many of the personality traits of the stallions that consider themselves above her.
She was like a foal, prancing around and showing off her strength. Well, misbehaving foals were all too easy to crush, and he would take great pleasure in stamping out this one's little flame. She seemed to think herself important - did she not know that really anyone could have beaten down her claim? There would have been fighting for weeks, if this lot weren't wrapped around her little hoof.
"I didn't issue a challenge to immediately take it back," he stated calmly to her silly question. He was not so much of a fool that he did not think his words through before voicing them. Besides, if anyone was to deny the other a fight, it would be her; by the looks of it, she had absolutely no intention of stepping down.
There was a tense silence for a moment, each of them sizing up their opponent. "Name your terms," he stated boldly, confidently giving her control of the battle. He would win this fight under her terms, show this raggedy group of equines calling themselves Possessed what a true leader could do.
Since Bay hasn't replied to this challenge within over a week (and has no away post), the land is forfeited, and now goes to Awry. Claim accepted! Also, remember to post in the land updates board that can be found here to update the land. :3
